ESA's Services Overview

ESA Offers a Number of Services to Respond to Consumer needs.

What We Offer:

Wiring Inspections – For all new construction and renovations electrical work must be inspected as required by the Ontario Electrical Safety Code. To arrange for an electrical inspection click here.

General Inspections – A visual inspection of a facility or residence to identify if there are any electrical defects that need to be corrected. To arrange for a general inspection call 1-877-esa-safe. Frequently Asked Questions

Inspection Certificates – Is your personal record confirming that the electrical installation(s) in your home meet the requirements of the Code.

Plan Review – A review of electrical installation plans to ensure that Ontario Electrical Safety Code requirements have been addressed. For information on Low Voltage Plan Review Requirements (up to 750 Volts), High Voltage Plan Review Requirements (greater than 750 Volts), or to set up a Plan Review Account. click here.

Unapproved Electrical Product Inspections – ESA responds to reports of unapproved electrical equipment, and can provide you with information on arranging to approve electrical equipment. Click here for detailed information about Electrical Equipment approval in Ontario.

Ontario Electrical Safety Code & Bulletins – Every three years the Ontario Electrical Safety Code is revised and published to reflect the most current requirements and standards for electrical installations and equipment in Ontario.. Click here for more information on the Code.

The Electrical Safety Authority publishes Ontario Electrical Safety Code Bulletins each quarter to provide Code interpretations.. Click here for more information on Code Bulletins.

Record Search & Request of Information
Record Search – a request for a search through the ESA’s records to identify any outstanding notifications associated with a specific site. Record searches are provided on demand, typically to satisfy a title search for the sale of property. Requests should be completed using the Request for Record Search Application (new Request for Record Search Application July 2010). There is a fee associated with this service.

Request for Information (Freedom of Information Request) – a formal request for information or access to records in the custody and control of the ESA. Requests are reviewed on an individual basis in accordance with our policy to ensure the requestor has a right to access the record. Requests should be completed using the Request for Information Application (new Request for Information Application July 2010). In most cases, there is a fee associated with this service.

Ontario Electrical Safety Code Training – A series of training workshops on New Code requirements as well as specific sections of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code. For information on training courses available click here. .
